About me

Software engineer based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I build embedded systems, IoT hardware, and software at Appibrium, a technology company I founded.

I came to OpenStreetMap because of a gap I kept running into: large parts of rural Bangladesh simply aren’t mapped. Roads that carry thousands of people every day don’t exist digitally. Village markets, schools, health complexes, and river ghats are missing. For anyone building navigation, delivery, agriculture, or emergency response tools here, that absence is a hard wall — and it’s one only local mappers can fix.

What I map

  • Unmapped rural roads, tracks, and river ghats
  • Village-level infrastructure — schools, health complexes, markets, mosques
  • Shops and POIs in semi-urban areas
  • Proper Bengali names (name:bn) alongside English — a lot of Bangladeshi data uses transliterations locals wouldn’t recognise

Current project

I’m preparing a solo motorcycle journey across Bangladesh, carrying a GPS logger and sensors. Every road I ride becomes a GPS trace uploaded here, and I’m documenting road conditions, unmapped settlements, and infrastructure along the way.

The goal is to leave the districts I pass through better mapped than I found them.

Tools

Editors iD (quick edits), JOSM (larger work)
Data GPS traces from field surveys
Languages বাংলা (native), English

I’m still learning OSM conventions — corrections and suggestions on my edits are genuinely welcome. Please leave a changeset comment and I’ll fix things.
